Americal Division Stands Down -- Ceremonies at Chu Lai

In November 1971, the history of the Americal Division in Vietnam came to an end.  Note the
units colors of the 198th Infantry Brigade on the far right side of the photograph.  The unit officially

This monument dedicated at the Americal Division ceremony at Chu Lai listed the units and their dates

While the Americal Division officially departed Vietnam in November 1971, many of the remaining
soldiers were assigned to other units to complete their tour of duty.  While the ceremonies marked
the end of combat operations for the Americal Division, the memories of the war slowly fade....
