Photo Gallery II
The green ladder on the Regimental Crest represents the service of the 6th in Mexico, especially the storming of the Citadel of Chapultepec in September 1847. Prior to this, the 6th had fought one of the toughest battles in its history on August 20, 1847 at the Convento de San Mateo beside the Churubusco River. At the time of the battle, Churubusco was well to the south of Mexico City and Chapultepec was on the outskirts. As a result of the city's explosive growth in the last century, both battle sites are now well within the city. These photos were taken in August 2002.
