(Palmer says partly why they got this duty was that Carter had 3 Purple Hearts and was the only grunt in the field with 3. He also says the grunts making up the Saigon unit were all sent there for various reasons, and there is a series of fiction books based on the unit called “Saigon Commandos”.) On the Morning Report it looks like it says Palmer was sent to the 69th MP Group, APO 96491 and Carter to the 29th MP Group, APO 96491, but it’s difficult to read.

Note to the Gunfighters from 69-71.  We need to look at the records from 69-71 and see if they are even worth the effort.  Most of the records after August 68 were not worth paying for.  The images maintained in St Louis are very poor.  It cost about $300.00 to get each year worth of Morning Reports, so we would have to take up a collection.
